Mazatlán
Travel tip
Pulmonias are an open air golf cart-style vehicle and are an inexpensive and fun way to get around in Mazatlán. Word to
the wise and another thing to keep in mind: taxi fares here are not calculated by a meter and are negotiated.
Experience the renaissance of a classic destination.
Blessed with a coastline sprinkled with beckoning islands, a lovely seaside promenade, kilometres of golden beaches and blue lagoons, Mazatlán lives up to its moniker: “Pearl of the Pacific”. In the 1960s, Mazatlán’s sandy beaches made it one of Mexico’s most alluring destinations. Recently, plenty of new developments have replaced the old. Indulge in New Mazatlán (Nuevo Mazatlán), the newest area of development, with innovative restaurants, hotels and posh condominium towers.
In contrast to the new developments in Mazatlán, there are also fascinating historical sites and interesting monuments scattered throughout the city. Old Mazatlán (Centro Historico) is a must see glimpse into
the past and a day of sightseeing is certainly time well spent. Check out the city’s original main square, the Plazuela Machado, for restaurants, entertainment and a rewarding experience of Mazatlán culture.
