Huatulco
Travel tip
Huatulco has received many certifications representing its commitment to preserving its natural surroundings.
A significant portion of the Huatulco bays is set aside as ecological reserves and will remain free from development.
More formally known as Las Bahias de Huatulco, Huatulco (“wah-tool-ko”), is a delightful region of nine bays and 36 beaches nestled along the Pacific Coast of Mexico. Enjoy a serene day on the beach or spend a day on the water swimming or snorkelling in the coral reefs. Just north of Bahía de Santa Cruz, the most centrally located bay, is La Crucecita. This is the hot spot for tourist activities, shopping and restaurants and is home to the famous cathedral, La Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.
Inland, you’ll find even more beauty and excitement. Explore the lush jungles on an ATV tour or take in the cliffs, natural pools and waterfalls of the Zimatán River canyon. Touring coffee plantations is another top attraction, one that rewards you with a rich serving of culture, history and of course an unforgettable cup of java. Unspoiled and a little off the beaten path, Huatulco is a treasure just waiting for you to discover it.
