Snorkelling the reef
If you like snorkelling, head to the Great Maya Reef just off the coast. Extending more than 965 kilometres, it is the largest coral reef system in the Northern Hemisphere and the second largest in the world. In the warm, crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean, it’s so easy to view this fascinating underwater world, which is home to more than 500 species of sea life including colourful tropical fish, turtles and dolphins.
