Tourism & Hotel College Scholarship for two young men living in Ethiopia

I had the pleasure of travelling to Ethiopia in 2018 with our client Ethiopian Airlines. Myself, along with our PR specialist Gordana Mosher hosted a delegation of Canadian journalists and travel professionals from Canada. We experienced the beauty of Ethiopia and met many beautiful people. During my visit to Lalibela, I met two young men who really stood out, and we continued our friendship since. Zekarias Biset who was working at the front desk of the hotel we stayed at, and Amlaku Teketay who was celebrating his wedding that night in the village. I followed the sound of the music and crashed his wedding! I was warmly greeted by the bride, groom, the best man and all the wedding guests. It was an experience of a lifetime! We continued our friendship and correspondence for the last two years. During the pandemic of 2020 both of these young men fell on hard times and lost their livelihood. Amlaku is now the father of a baby boy and has even more responsibilities to provide for his young family. It is no longer possible for them to work at a hotel or in tourism without a proper diploma of accreditation, not to mention the state of the industry at this time.

This is where I, with the support of Radonic+ Travel & Tourism Marketing and in-directly our clients who have supported us the last 24 years in business…

Tourism and Hotel College Scholarship

We decided to give back to our global travel and tourism industry.

Radonic+ has taken on these two young men, by encouraging them to pursue studies in Tourism & Hotel Management. We hope that after the pandemic they can enter the tourism and hotel industry, at which time they would then be able to support themselves. We enabled them to enrol in a local college in Ethiopia, secured laptops and internet access in their homes, along with all their living expenses for the duration of their studies. The program is anticipated to continue for a period of 2 years, which started September 2020 and should continue until the end of 2022.

We wish these two young men all the blessings and good fortune in the new year. We wish the same for entire travel & tourism industry. Our business at Radonic+ is also 100% reliant on the travel industry, it is our speciality and our only niche! We do hope our industry will bounce back in 2021, we look forward to working with all our dear clients again in the new year!
